The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is reportedly set to invite officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for questioning over alleged irregularities surrounding ticket allocations and registration procedures for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The reported investigation is expected to examine the processes used in allocating World Cup tickets, registering supporters and managing travel arrangements for Ghanaian fans who are expected to attend the tournament.
The move comes amid growing calls for greater transparency and accountability in the management of Ghana football, particularly in matters involving public interest and financial transactions.
The investigation, if confirmed, could require officials involved in the ticketing and supporter-registration processes to provide clarification on how the arrangements were conducted and whether established procedures were followed.
There have also been calls for all officials connected to the process to cooperate fully with the investigation and provide the necessary information to assist EOCO in establishing the facts.
Any individual found to have breached the law or engaged in wrongdoing could face the appropriate legal consequences.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup was hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
