The Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly Task Force has taken action to clear an unauthorized market that has emerged at the Tetteh- Quarshie Roundabout near Villagio in the Greater Accra Region.
The market had reportedly sprung up in the area, close to the residence of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, raising concerns about the use of public space and the activities of traders at the busy intersection.
The Task Force moved in to remove traders and structures associated with the unauthorized market as part of efforts by the Assembly to regulate trading activities and maintain order within the municipality.
The Tetteh- Quarshie Roundabout is a major traffic interchange in Accra, and the emergence of the market had raised concerns over congestion, pedestrian safety and the obstruction of public spaces.
The Assembly is expected to continue monitoring the area to prevent traders from returning and re-establishing the unauthorized market.
