The Government through the Ministry of Local Goverment, Religious and Chietaincy Affairs has reminded the general public that Saturday, October 3, 2026, has been designated as National Sanitation Day.
Residents across the country are being encouraged to take part in communal cleaning exercises and help improve sanitation in their communities.
The exercise is expected to take place between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon and to be supervised by the various Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), with individuals and community members urged to use the period to clean their surroundings and dispose of waste properly.
The reminder calls on everyone to take responsibility for maintaining clean and healthy communities as part of efforts to improve sanitation across the country.
