The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has engaged Societe Generale Ghana PLC on the planned transition of its Ghana operations to Attijariwafa Bank and opportunities to deepen investment relations between Ghana and Morocco.
The engagement took place during a visit by the Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana, Mr Hakim Ouzzani, to the Chief Executive Officer of GIPA, Mr Simon Madjie, in Accra.
Mr Madjie said the planned transaction could create opportunities for increased Moroccan Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Ghana, adding that GIPA was prepared to support a smooth transition.
He also invited Societe Generale Ghana and Attijariwafa Bank to participate in the Invest Ghana Summit, scheduled for November 16–17 in Accra, to explore investment and business opportunities in the country.
Under the agreement, Attijariwafa Bank is expected to acquire a 55.22 per cent stake in Societe Generale Ghana, while the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) will acquire an additional five per cent stake.
