The Krowor Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region(GAR) has received an additional 1,000 poultry birds under the government’s Nkoko Nkitinkiti Household and Backyard Poultry Production Initiative, bringing the total number of birds delivered to the municipality to 11,000.
The latest batch was received on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and subsequently distributed to registered beneficiaries to support household poultry production, income generation and food security.
The development builds on an earlier distribution of 10,000 birds to beneficiaries in the municipality in March.
The initiative is intended to promote backyard poultry production while creating economic opportunities for households and contributing to efforts to strengthen food security.
The Krowor beneficiaries are expected to use the birds to establish or expand household poultry production and generate additional income.
The municipality expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the initiative, saying it was creating opportunities, strengthening livelihoods and contributing to Ghana’s efforts towards food self-sufficiency.
