Popular phone dealer Nana Yaw Kyere, popularly known as Terry or Dinero among traders at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in the Greater Accra Region, has been found dead following his disappearance.
Nana Yaw reportedly went missing after travelling to Teshie to meet a woman he had been communicating with for several weeks.
Concerns about his whereabouts intensified late Sunday night after a series of unusual WhatsApp messages were sent from his phone to a friend.
The messages reportedly suggested that Nana Yaw had been “set up” by the woman in a room at Teshie.
A photograph of the room and a live location were also reportedly shared with the friend.
However, the friend became suspicious after noticing that the wording of the messages appeared inconsistent with Nana Yaw’s usual communication style.
Another message was later sent from Nana Yaw’s phone at about 3:00 a.m., reportedly indicating that he had been released.
The earlier photograph and live location were subsequently deleted from the WhatsApp conversation, deepening concerns over his whereabouts.
The Ghana Police Service subsequently launched investigations into the disappearance.
As part of the investigation, police reportedly recovered Nana Yaw’s Honda Civic and arrested three suspects in connection with the case.
Further searches conducted in parts of Teshie later led to the discovery of his remains.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Nana Yaw’s family confirmed his death and expressed gratitude to individuals who assisted in the search and offered prayers and support during the difficult period.
The family has appealed for privacy as the police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
