The Embassy of Ghana in Washington, D.C. has cautioned applicants for the Ghana e-Visa not to mail their physical passports to the embassy as part of the application process.
The embassy said applicants should instead follow the instructions provided through the official e-Visa portal when completing their applications.
The warning is intended to prevent applicants from unnecessarily sending their passports to the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, D.C., during the e-Visa application process.
In a notice issued by the Consular Section, the embassy stated: “Applicants who apply for a Ghana e-Visa do not need to mail their physical passports to the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, D.C.”
The embassy further advised applicants to rely on the instructions provided through the e-Visa portal.
“Please follow the instructions provided through the e-Visa portal,” the notice added.
Applicants who have already mailed their passports to the embassy have also been advised to contact the Consular Section for assistance.
The embassy provided info.washington@mfa.gov.gh as the contact email for applicants who have already sent their passports.

The clarification comes as travellers and other applicants use Ghana’s e-Visa system to apply for entry clearance before travelling to the country.
Applicants are therefore encouraged to carefully review the requirements and instructions provided during the e-Visa application process before submitting documents or sending anything to the embassy.
For those who have already mailed their physical passports, the embassy has specifically advised them to contact the Consular Section rather than sending additional documents without guidance.
