Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms have pledged to sponsor international agricultural study trips to Italy for Ghana’s Overall National Best Farmer and National Best Poultry Farmer for 2026.
The sponsorship packages, announced by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in collaboration with the two agribusiness companies, form part of activities marking the 42nd National Farmers Day Celebration.
Under the package for the Overall National Best Farmer 2026, sponsored by Mehak Company Limited, the winner and their spouse or partner will enjoy a seven-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Italy.
The trip is expected to provide the award winner with exposure to modern European agricultural technologies, sustainable value chains and innovative processing practices.
Covenant Farms will similarly sponsor the National Best Poultry Farmer 2026 with a seven-day, all-expenses-paid technical and benchmarking trip to Italy.
The poultry farmer’s programme will focus on modern poultry production practices, sustainable systems and innovative approaches within the sector.
According to the Ministry, the sponsorships are intended to expose Ghanaian farmers to modern farming technologies, processing innovations and smart agricultural practices, while supporting the government’s agricultural modernisation objectives.
MoFA also said it had completed negotiations with the Embassy of Italy to facilitate the successful travel arrangements for the winners of the two categories.
The Ministry expressed appreciation to the managements of Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for their support towards agriculture and the National Farmers Day celebration.
The initiative is being presented under the theme: “Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future.”
