The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has confirmed the arrest and detention of nurse Salomey Baffoe in Techiman in connection with an ongoing investigation involving the social media personality known as “Ghana Jollof.”
The GRNMA National Council on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, dispatched a delegation to the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Accra to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the nurse’s arrest.
The delegation was led by the Assistant National Public Relations Officer of the GRNMA, Philimon Gyapong.
According to the Association, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) confirmed that nurse Salomey had been apprehended in Techiman and was currently in police custody.
The police officer, however, reportedly declined to provide specific details about the case, citing the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation.
The GRNMA said the police instead advised its leadership to liaise with nurse Salomey’s legal counsel, who represented her in court earlier on Wednesday.
The Association expressed concerns over the lack of clarity regarding the specific location where the nurse is being detained.
It said the police nevertheless assured its delegation that nurse Salomey was safe, unharmed and being treated in accordance with professional police standards.
The GRNMA was also informed that she was scheduled to appear before the Adenta Circuit Court on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Following the briefing, the GRNMA National Council, under the direction of its President, Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, mobilised representatives to attend Thursday’s court proceedings.
The Association said its intervention is intended to help establish a clear understanding of the legal proceedings and facilitate collaboration with nurse Salomey’s defense lawyers towards a swift resolution of the matter.
The GRNMA has also established direct contact with nurse Salomey’s family and assured them of its legal, emotional and institutional support throughout the case.
The Association has meanwhile urged its members to remain calm but vigilant as it continues to monitor developments.
