The chiefs and elders of Gomoa Mprumem in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region have appealed to the government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), individuals and other benevolent organisations to support the completion of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the community.
The traditional authorities say completing the facility will improve access to healthcare and help save lives in Gomoa Mprumem and neighbouring communities.
Speaking to the media during the launch of the 2027 Gomoa Mprumem Akwambo festival, the Regent of Gomoa Mprumem, Nana Apaaba IV, said the community had taken upon itself to construct the health facility, which was started about a year ago.
He said the community intends to use proceeds from the upcoming Akwambo festival and to raise funds to complete the project.
According to Nana Apaaba IV, the CHPS compound is urgently needed to provide residents with essential healthcare services and reduce the challenges associated with accessing medical care.
He therefore appealed to the government, NGOs, individuals and other organisations to support the community to complete the facility.
Meanwhile, the Adontehene of Gomoa Mprumem and Chairman of the 2027 Akwambo festival Planning Committee, Nana Kwame Ahor, announced that this year’s festival would commence on December 27, 2026, and end on January 4, 2027.
He called on natives of Gomoa Mprumem living outside the community to return home and join Nananom in mobilising resources for the development of the area.
Nana Kwame Ahor said the support of residents and indigenes living abroad would be crucial to the success of the festival and the community’s development initiatives, particularly the completion of the CHPS compound.
