President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to confer the “Order of the Companion of the Volta” on the Engineer Corps of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) during Ghana’s 70th anniversary celebrations next year.
The President made the announcement as he recognised the contribution of the Engineer Corps to Ghana’s development and national service.
The honour is expected to form part of activities marking the country’s 70th anniversary in 2027.
The Engineer Corps of the Ghana Armed Forces has played roles in infrastructure development, engineering support and other national assignments, complementing the military’s traditional security responsibilities.
President Mahama’s announcement places the Corps among institutions to be recognised as Ghana prepares to commemorate seven decades of independence.
