The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has intensified efforts to restore and install streetlights across the constituency as part of measures to improve visibility and enhance community safety.
The MP, who also serves as the Second Deputy Chief Whip of Parliament, on Wednesday toured parts of the constituency to identify areas where streetlights were not functioning or where additional lighting was required.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure that major roads and streets within the constituency are adequately illuminated, particularly in areas where poor visibility has been a concern for residents.
According to the MP, the initiative is aimed at improving visibility at night, enhancing security and creating safer communities for residents, motorists and pedestrians.
The restoration and installation of streetlights are expected to contribute to efforts to improve security across the constituency by reducing poorly lit areas and providing better visibility during the night.
Mr Shiab said the work would continue across communities in the constituency, with the focus on ensuring that more streets benefit from reliable street lighting.
“Step by step, street by street, we are bringing light, safety, and renewed confidence to our neighbourhoods,” he said.
The initiative forms part of the MP’s ongoing community development efforts aimed at improving infrastructure and the general well-being of residents in Weija-Gbawe.
