Former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Kwasi Mensah Duku (Rtd.), has passed away, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service to Ghana and the Ghana Police Service.
COP Duku, who also served as Regional Police Commander in the Western and Upper West Regions at various times, was described by his family as a brilliant and dedicated police officer who served the nation with distinction.
A family member, in a tribute to the late police officer, disclosed that COP Duku was the son of his direct uncle, the late Paul Duku, popularly known as Opanin Kwabena Nsiah.
Affectionately known within the family as “Kwasi Broni,” the retired senior police officer was described as a pillar of the family and a man whose professional career was marked by commitment and integrity.
The family member recalled visiting COP Duku while he was receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre and later at the Police Hospital in Accra.
According to the tribute, the visits revealed the immense pain the retired commander was enduring, although he remained determined to survive and continued to fight for his life.
Despite his efforts, COP Duku eventually passed away, with the family member saying his death was a reminder that “God knows best.”
“Rest in peace, Kwasi,” the tribute concluded, mourning the loss of a respected family member and former senior police officer whose career was dedicated to serving Ghana.
