The Environmental Health Department of the Ho Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region has confiscated and destroyed quantities of expired and unwholesome beverages and food products seized from two retail outlets and warehouses within the municipality.
The exercise was carried out as part of efforts by the Assembly to protect public health and prevent the sale and consumption of products that could pose risks to consumers.
The confiscated items included cartons and packs of expired beverages and food products found at the affected retail outlets and warehouses.
The Environmental Health Department has been conducting inspections of food establishments and storage facilities to ensure that products offered for sale meet required health and safety standards.
The destruction of the seized products is intended to prevent them from re-entering the market and being consumed by unsuspecting members of the public.
The Assembly is expected to continue monitoring businesses within the municipality and take enforcement action against operators who violate public health and food safety regulations.
