The Legislative Instrument (L.I.) required to provide legal backing for Ghana’s Creative Arts Fund is expected to be presented to Parliament for consideration and approval soon.
Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, disclosed this during the Accountability Series on Monday, August 10.
According to the Minister, the L.I. is currently before the Attorney-General’s Department for review and will be forwarded to Parliament once the necessary processes are completed.
She explained that the legal instrument is essential to establishing the framework under which the Creative Arts Fund will operate and provide financial support to stakeholders in the sector.
The Fund is intended to support a range of activities, including sector development initiatives, talent development, artistic projects and other programmes aimed at promoting growth within Ghana’s creative arts industry.
The establishment of the Fund follows the government’s announcement in the 2026 Budget of GHS20 million in seed funding to support the creative arts sector.
Once the L.I. is passed, the Fund will have the legal and operational framework required to begin disbursing financial support to eligible beneficiaries.
The move is expected to provide additional resources for creatives and organisations within the sector while strengthening government’s efforts to develop Ghana’s creative economy.
