Ghana has congratulated Senegal’s President, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, following his election as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
In a message of goodwill signed by the Minister for Foreign Affiars and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa said Ghana extended its best wishes to President Faye, expressing confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and direction for the regional bloc.
The statement wished the Senegalese leader “great success, wisdom and courage” as he assumes responsibility for steering the affairs of ECOWAS.
Ghana further assured President Faye of its continued support and cooperation, emphasising its commitment to regional unity, stability and development.
“President Faye can always count on Ghana’s principled support and genuine cooperation,” the statement said.
President Faye’s election as ECOWAS Chairman places him at the helm of efforts to strengthen regional integration, address security challenges and promote economic cooperation among West African states.
