Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency, Kofi Adams, says the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is satisfied with their position on the ballot paper.

According to the Buem MP, the NDC is more focused on ensuring transparency in the electoral process.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on September 21, he said, “The NDC is very comfortable with the position we find ourselves. All of us seated here will agree, if there is ever any number in the last two years that has seen a lot of mention by any manner of persons it is number 8.”

“It is either someone is saying I want to break the eight or others are saying, what are you breaking the eight for? For this useless performance that you want to continue or what?”

On September 20, the balloting process for presidential candidates at the Electoral Commission (EC) was marked by some chaos.

This occurred after the commission conducted the first part of the process, which was to determine the sequence in which the actual balloting would proceed.

Dr Omane Boamah, Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), raised concerns that one of the balls had a unique feature that could compromise the integrity of the process.

After over 30 minutes of argument, the commission agreed to replace the affected ball, and the process was set to be re-run from scratch.

The National Patriotic Party (NPP) picked number one on the ballot paper while the NDC picked number eight.

Mr Adams stated that the prominence of the number 8 has led to heightened public awareness.

“The media is carrying it. The chiefs, pastors, Imams are all talking about it. If there was ever any number that a lot of time and resources have been spent on it, it is number eight. When anyone picks the ballot paper, they will be attracted to number eight.”

“We are so comfortable with the position God has given us in this ballot. We are not worried all,” he said.
