The leadership of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), led by Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has begun a strategic nationwide media engagement tour aimed at strengthening collaboration with media organisations and boosting public awareness of its mandate.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Fund to deepen partnerships with the media, improve understanding of its operations, and mobilise support from individuals, corporate bodies and development partners for its life-saving healthcare interventions.
The first stop of the tour was the Despite Media Group, making it the inaugural media house to formally host the GMTF delegation under the engagement programme.
The delegation was warmly received by management of the media conglomerate, led by Managing Director Fadda Dickson Narh and General Manager Kennedy Asante Osei, who expressed appreciation for the Fund’s mission and objectives.
Addressing the meeting, Ms. Darko-Opoku outlined the Fund’s mandate, achievements, ongoing interventions and future plans, stressing the need for stronger media collaboration to amplify awareness of its work.
She noted that the Fund’s core mission is to ensure that no Ghanaian is denied access to quality healthcare due to financial constraints, adding that many beneficiaries suffering from Non-Communicable and critical illnesses have already been supported through its interventions.
According to her, increased media visibility is essential to attracting support from corporate institutions, philanthropists, development partners and the general public in order to expand the Fund’s reach.
“The media remains one of our most valuable partners in this journey.
We want media organisations not only to understand our mandate but also to help us tell the powerful stories of hope and survival that are emerging through the Fund,” she said.
Management of Despite Media Group welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to support the GMTF’s objectives.
They assured the delegation that internal discussions would be held to explore possible areas of collaboration, with proposals to be shared with the Fund in due course.
The GMTF media engagement tour is expected to continue with visits to other major media organisations across the country as part of efforts to build a strong network of partners to support healthcare access and promote the Fund’s interventions nationwide.
