Ghana has begun arrangements to evacuate its citizens from Qatar following rising security concerns in the region.
In a notice dated Sunday, March 15, 2026, the Embassy of Ghana in Qatar said the decision was taken after monitoring the deteriorating security situation in parts of the region.
The embassy explained that the evacuation exercise is intended for Ghanaians currently residing in Qatar who wish to return home immediately.
According to the statement, the exercise will be conducted as a one-way evacuation to Ghana.
“It is noted that this arrangement is strictly a one-way evacuation exercise to Ghana,” the embassy said.
Ghanaians interested in participating in the evacuation have been asked to confirm their interest by sending the biodata page of their passports via email to the embassy.
The embassy stated that the required information should be submitted to doha@mfa.gov.ghno later than Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Officials say the evacuation is being organized by the Government of Ghana as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of its citizens abroad.
