A lifeless body of an unidentified young man, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered in a drain at Aboabo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region on Friday, January 30.
Speaking to Citi News, Sumaila Dauda, the Unit Committee Member for the Aboabo Extension electoral area, indicated that the victim may have been lynched before being dumped in the drain.
He described the discovery as alarming and noted that such incidents have occurred repeatedly in the area.
“Someone informed me about the situation, so I rushed to the scene. Looking at the body, it appears the person was beaten to death. The police have since taken the body to the morgue,” Mr Dauda said, urging authorities to implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Police officers confirmed they have conveyed the body to the morgue and have begun investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
