The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed GH¢281.66 million in claims payments to credentialed health facilities across the country for healthcare services provided to members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The latest payment brings the total value of claims paid by the Authority since the beginning of 2026 to GH¢1.64 billion.

The NHIA said the latest disbursement, amounting to GH¢281,658,680.79, was made on August 25 and 27, 2026, to public, private and mission health facilities nationwide.

Public health facilities received the largest share, amounting to GH¢122.73 million, representing 43.58 per cent of the total payment.

Private health facilities received GH¢104.50 million, representing 37.1 per cent, while mission facilities received GH¢54.42 million, equivalent to 19.32 per cent of the amount disbursed.

The Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, said the Authority remained committed to ensuring that credentialed health facilities were reimbursed promptly to enable them to provide uninterrupted and quality healthcare to NHIS members.

“We know the facilities need the payment to procure consumables to enable them to provide quality care to our members, and it is for this reason we ensure that as soon as their claims have been vetted, we promptly pay them,” Dr Bampoe said.

He said timely reimbursement was essential to supporting health facilities to maintain the necessary supplies and resources for effective service delivery.

The NHIA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining regular and timely claims payments as part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare financing and improve the quality of services provided under the NHIS.
