Staff of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) have joined the cleanup exercise in flood-affected areas to support efforts aimed at restoring public spaces and promoting a cleaner and safer environment.

The exercise was organised in response to the President’s directive for a nationwide cleanup following the recent floods, reflecting SSNIT’s commitment to supporting national initiatives and the communities in which it operates.

In Accra, the exercise was led by the Director-General of SSNIT, Kwasi Afreh Biney, together with his Deputies, Executive Management and staff of the Trust.

The team cleaned several key areas, including major highways, the Afua Sutherland stretch, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) enclave, the National Theatre traffic light, Premier Towers, the Ministries traffic light and adjoining areas.

Similar cleanup activities were carried out by SSNIT staff in other affected areas, including Tema, Cape Coast, Takoradi, Sefwi-Wiawso, Ho, Asante Mampong and other communities, as staff contributed towards restoring public spaces and promoting environmental cleanliness.

Commenting on the exercise, the Director-General noted that SSNIT’s role extends beyond pension administration, adding that the Trust remains committed to supporting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of Ghanaians.

The participation of SSNIT staff highlights the Trust’s commitment to corporate citizenship and its belief that national development requires the collective efforts of institutions, organisations and citizens.

Beyond pension administration, SSNIT continues to support initiatives that improve the wellbeing of Ghanaians and contribute to building cleaner, safer and more resilient communities.
