The Government of Ghana has formally handed over the construction site for a new 160-bed Savannah Regional Referral Hospital at Damongo to the contractor.
The site handover, which took place last Friday, marks the commencement of the process towards the construction of the referral facility intended to serve residents of the Savannah Region.
The project is expected to provide the region with expanded access to specialised healthcare services and strengthen the capacity of the health sector in the area.
The new facility will serve as a key referral point for patients requiring services beyond those available at lower-level health facilities within the region.
The formal handover of the site to the contractor paves the way for construction works to begin on the hospital project.
The development forms part of efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and expand access to quality health services across the country.
