The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will donate US$250,000 (approximately GH¢3 million) to support victims of the recent devastating floods in Ghana.
According to the Minister, the Foreign Affairs Ministry has officially been notified by ECOWAS of the donation, which is intended to provide relief to communities affected by the disaster.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa said the Government of Ghana, in line with its commitment to transparency and accountability, will transfer the entire amount to support flood victims immediately after the funds are received in the Ministry’s account.
He expressed the Government’s profound gratitude to ECOWAS for the generous gesture, describing it as a demonstration of regional solidarity and genuine African compassion during a difficult period for many affected families.
