Sachet water price hits GH¢15 per bag as producers announce adjustment

Ghanaian consumers are set to pay more for sachet water as producers announce a new pricing structure effective Monday, April 6, 2026, following rising production costs driven by global market pressures.

The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) says the adjustment has become necessary due to a shortage of polymers and a sharp increase in their prices, worsened by ongoing conflict in Iran, which has disrupted supply chains and pushed up input costs.

In a statement, the association outlined the new price regime, which places the ex-factory price at GH¢8 per bag of 500ml x 30 sachets, with ex-truck sales at GH¢10, while the maximum retail price is pegged at GH¢15 per bag.

“The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers regrets to announce an upward revision of the ex-factory and ex-truck prices of sachet water, effective Monday, April 6, 2026,” the statement said.

NASPAWAP explained that the move is intended to help producers remain in business amid the rising cost of production materials, urging retailers to comply with the new pricing to maintain fairness in the market.

“We urge retailers and consumers to adhere to these prices to ensure fair trade practices. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time,” the association added.
