The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West in the Central Region, Richard Gyan-Mensah, has donated 1,000 bags of fertilizer and 6,500 machetes to farmers in the constituency to support agricultural production and strengthen food security.
The farm inputs were presented on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Apam, through the Gomoa West District Chief Executive, Alhaji Mohammed Kassim, and Assembly Members of the district.
The items are expected to complement fertilizer supplied by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to the Gomoa West District Assembly for distribution to farmers across the district.
The Ministry has provided an additional 1,500 bags of fertilizer to the Assembly, bringing the total fertilizer available for distribution through the two interventions to 2,500 bags.
The inputs are intended to support farmers to increase crop yields, reduce production challenges and contribute to efforts to improve food security in the district.
Mr Gyan-Mensah commended farmers in Gomoa West for their contribution to feeding households and supporting the national economy.
The intervention is also expected to provide relief to farmers who continue to face rising input costs and other challenges associated with agricultural production.
The initiative forms part of efforts to support farmers with essential inputs and improve agricultural productivity within the constituency.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, for its continued support for farmers and efforts to strengthen food production.
The MP and district authorities said they remained committed to working with farmers and other stakeholders to build a more productive and food-secure Gomoa West.
