The East Legon Football Academy in the Greater Accra Region has commended the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) for supporting youth development through football.
The commendation follows the NPA’s financial support for the Academy’s participation in international football competitions and development programmes in Denmark and Spain.
The support enabled the Academy’s young footballers to travel to Denmark for the prestigious Dana Cup, where the team has competed for the past four years.
The Academy has recorded notable success at the tournament, with its Under-14 boys’ team winning the trophy in 2024, followed by the Under-12 team’s triumph in 2025.
The young players also travelled to Spain to participate in scout trials with Rush SPF Academy in Madrid.
During their stay, they toured the Santiago Bernabéu and Metropolitano Stadiums, the home grounds of Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid respectively, and took part in training sessions with football academies in Spain.
The Academy expressed its appreciation to the NPA during a visit to the Authority on Thursday, September 18, 2026, to formally acknowledge the support.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, Esq., commended the Academy for its achievements and praised the young footballers for their courage, discipline and commitment to excellence.
He said it was encouraging to see young Ghanaian footballers demonstrating the discipline and determination required to compete at the international level.
As part of the visit, the Academy presented the NPA CEO with a citation and a personalised football jersey in recognition of the Authority’s contribution to the development of the young players.
The NPA said its support for the East Legon Football Academy forms part of its broader commitment to national development through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
