The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced bridge financing for newly admitted first-year students of public universities and public technical universities under the government’s No Academic Fees policy.
The Fund said the intervention is aimed at ensuring eligible students do not lose their admission because of fee-payment deadlines as the 2026/2027 academic year begins.
According to the SLTF in a statement, some institutions require newly admitted students to pay a portion of their fees to confirm their admission, while the processing of fee support under the No Academic Fees policy takes time.
Upon application by an eligible student, the Fund will advance the required fee deposit directly to the institution, with the amount later reconciled against the student’s approved fee support.
“The advance will subsequently be reconciled against the coverage due to the student under the No Academic Fees Policy,” the SLTF said.
The Fund said the initiative forms part of its “No-Fees-Stress” agenda and urged newly admitted first-year students who require immediate financial support to apply through the No-Fees-Stress Portal.
“All newly admitted first-year students who require immediate financial support are encouraged to apply promptly through the No-Fees-Stress Portal at https://nofeesstress.gov.gh to secure their admission and commence their academic journey without financial anxiety,” it stated.
The intervention comes as public tertiary institutions begin the 2026/2027 academic year, with the government seeking to reduce financial barriers to tertiary education.
