Former Member of Parliament for the Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to formally inform him of his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress.
The visit formed part of his wider consultations as he prepares to enter the party’s internal contest for the top leadership role.
Mr. Vanderpuije said he considered it important to seek the prayers, blessings, and guidance of the Chief Imam before embarking on what he described as an important journey of service to the party and the nation.
He described the National Chief Imam as a respected symbol of peace, unity, humility, and national cohesion, adding that his counsel remains valuable to individuals seeking leadership positions.
According to him, the visit also provided an opportunity for him to receive spiritual support and direction as he pursues his political ambition.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and fatherly advice offered by the Chief Imam, noting that the encounter left him encouraged and strengthened ahead of the contest.
Mr. Vanderpuije further thanked the Chief Imam for his prayers and continuous commitment to peace and national development, adding that such guidance is essential for leaders at all levels.
