The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has concluded a two-day capacity-building workshop for District Managers and Public Relations Officers (PROs) from the Greater Accra and Volta regions, aimed at strengthening communication, public engagement and professional development.
The workshop ended on October 20, 2026, with the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Oswald Essuah-Mensah, commending participants for their commitment to promoting the Authority’s mandate.
Speaking at the closing ceremony on behalf of the NHIA Chief Executive, Mr Essuah-Mensah said the training reflected management’s vision to improve staff welfare and enhance professional competencies across the Authority.
He urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve their performance, strengthen public engagement and raise the NHIA’s profile within their respective communities.
Mr Essuah-Mensah also assured them of continued support from the Corporate Affairs Directorate, particularly through the provision of communication materials to support public education and outreach activities.
The training covered key areas of communication, including public speaking, stakeholder engagement, news writing and audience-focused messaging. Participants were also introduced to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to improve content creation and engagement on social media platforms.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Ms Faustina Dery, underscored the importance of producing clear, accurate and compelling stories that effectively communicate the Authority’s activities and impact.
She encouraged participants to strengthen their storytelling skills to ensure that information about the NHIA’s work reaches the public in an accessible and engaging manner.
Interactive sessions allowed participants to exchange experiences, discuss communication challenges and share best practices.
Participants also received practical photography training to improve the quality of images used to document and report on the Authority’s programmes and activities.
The initiative forms part of the NHIA’s broader commitment to staff capacity development, effective public communication and improved service delivery.
