The wife of former National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, has asked the High Court to allow her to travel to the United Kingdom to seek medical treatment for their son.
Faiza Seidu Wuni, who is standing trial alongside her husband in an ongoing criminal case, is requesting a variation of her bail conditions to permit the trip. The court is expected to hear the application on Tuesday, July 28.
Her request comes just weeks after Mr. Aludiba filed a similar application asking the court for permission to travel abroad on medical grounds.
The prosecution has questioned the timing of Mrs. Wuni’s application, noting that it followed closely after her husband’s request and raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding both motions. However, the defence insists the application is intended solely to enable her to secure medical care for the couple’s son in the United Kingdom.
The court will hear submissions from both sides before deciding whether to grant the travel request.
Mr. Aludiba and his wife are facing criminal charges linked to alleged financial irregularities during his tenure as NAFCO CEO. They have both pleaded not guilty and remain on bail while the case continues.
Under their bail conditions, neither accused person can leave the country without prior approval from the court. The July 28 proceedings will focus exclusively on Mrs. Wuni’s travel application and not the substantive criminal case.
