President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya as the Acting Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective Monday, November 17, 2025. He succeeds Mr. Edward Apenteng Gyambrah, who recently retired.

Dr. Yamborigya is widely regarded as a distinguished tax administrator and public finance expert, with over two decades of experience in Ghana’s revenue administration.

He has been instrumental in the transformation and modernization of the GRA, particularly in Domestic Tax Policy, Compliance Management, and Revenue Mobilization.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Yamborigya held several senior management roles within the Authority.

He served as Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, Head of Post Clearance Audit at the DTRD, and Head of Audit for Special Audits (Audit Factory). He also acted as Assistant Commissioner at the Commissioner DTRD’s Secretariat.

Dr. Yamborigya was also the Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), where he led reforms that enhanced tax compliance, expanded the tax base, and modernized domestic tax operations.

His visionary leadership and dedication to service excellence have earned him respect across the Authority and the wider tax administration community.

On his appointment, the GRA noted that Dr. Yamborigya’s leadership is expected to “foster renewed energy in enhancing tax compliance, utilizing digital solutions, and strengthening collaboration with stakeholders to drive Ghana’s domestic revenue mobilization efforts forward.”

The management and staff of the GRA have extended their congratulations to Dr. Yamborigya, wishing him a highly successful tenure as Acting Commissioner of the DTRD.
