The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has recruited 100,628 beneficiaries as of September 30, 2026, representing 75.7% of its annual target of 133,000, Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale has announced.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House today, Wednesday, October 21, Mr Basintale said the Agency had achieved more than three-quarters of its recruitment target with three months remaining in the year.
He said the recruitment figures reflected an expansion in the number of young Ghanaians accessing employment opportunities through the Agency’s various interventions, which are designed to provide temporary employment, practical skills, workplace experience and pathways to economic empowerment.
“Since assuming office, we have increased beneficiary recruitment by at least 566.67%,” he said, describing the growth as an expansion in opportunities for young people across the country.
“For me, these are not merely statistics on paper. They represent real people, real livelihoods and real opportunities for young men and women who deserve a fair chance to contribute to the development of our country,” he added.
Mr Basintale said the Agency would continue working to improve programme delivery and address implementation gaps as it pursues its employment target.
He stressed that its objective was not simply to increase beneficiary numbers but to equip young people with skills and experience that could improve their economic circumstances.
