The Chief Justice of The Gambia, Justice Edrissa M. O. Faal, has undertaken a five-day study visit to the Judiciary of Ghana to strengthen bilateral cooperation and promote the exchange of knowledge between the two judicial institutions.
The visit, which commenced on Monday, October 19, 2026, provided a platform for the two judiciaries to share experiences and perspectives on issues relating to the administration of justice.
During his stay, Chief Justice Faal held meetings with Ghana’s Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Justices of the Supreme Court, and the Judicial Secretary, Mr. Musah Ahmed.
He also engaged with the Director and management of the Ghana School of Law as part of efforts to gain insights into Ghana’s judicial and legal education systems.
As part of the visit, the Gambian Chief Justice observed proceedings at Ghana’s Supreme Court in Accra before travelling to Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, where he observed proceedings at the Court of Appeal.
Chief Justice Faal also paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during his visit to Kumasi.
He was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs. Marian Faal; the Judicial Secretary of The Gambian Judiciary, Mr. Abdou Conteh; the Director-General of the Gambia Law School, Ms. Rougi Thomasi; and a Protocol Officer, Mr. Omar Jammeh.
