The Embassy of Ghana in Tokyo has issued a weather advisory to Ghanaian nationals and members of the public in Japan following the approach of Typhoon No. 13, known as Dolphin.
In a statement dated August 3, 2026, the Embassy said the typhoon is moving towards the Ogasawara Islands, located about 1,000 kilometres south of central Tokyo, with high waves expected in the affected areas.
The Embassy urged Ghanaian nationals and other residents to remain vigilant, take necessary safety precautions, and follow updates and instructions from relevant Japanese authorities.
It advised residents to stay informed through the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Disaster Prevention Information account, @tokyo_bousai, on X (formerly Twitter), and to use the translation feature where necessary.
The Embassy also encouraged the public to monitor weather updates from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), check vessel service information for routes to and from the Ogasawara Islands, and contact airlines for possible flight disruptions.
Ghana’s Embassy in Tokyo reiterated the importance of exercising caution and complying with official safety directives to protect lives and property as the typhoon progresses.
The Embassy assured Ghanaian nationals that they should rely on official channels for accurate updates and further information regarding the weather situation.
