The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has secured a High Court order freezing the assets of former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, as investigations into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities continue.
The order, issued by the Accra High Court on Monday, August 3, freezes five bank accounts and four landed properties linked to Mr Aboagye, pending the outcome of the investigations.
Under the court’s directive, no transactions can be carried out on the affected bank accounts, while the identified properties cannot be sold, transferred, mortgaged or otherwise disposed of until further orders are issued.
The preservation order forms part of EOCO’s ongoing investigation into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving approximately GH¢55 million during Mr Aboagye’s tenure as Executive Secretary of the IMCCoD.
Investigators are examining financial transactions and procurement processes undertaken during the period under review to determine whether any financial impropriety occurred.
Under Ghana’s legal framework, EOCO is permitted to seek preservation orders from the courts where there are reasonable grounds to believe assets may be connected to suspected economic or organised crime. Such orders are intended to preserve the assets while investigations are ongoing.
Mr Aboagye has denied any wrongdoing, insisting he has committed no offence.
He was previously granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties as investigations into the matter continue.
