The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has pledged his support for the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), describing the initiative as a vital intervention that can improve access to specialised healthcare for Ghanaians.
The assurance was given when the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, led a delegation from the Fund on a courtesy visit to the Ga Mantse Palace ahead of this year’s Homowo Festival.
The delegation included Board Member Dr. Adu Agyei Gyamfi and members of the Fund’s management team.
The visit formed part of the Trust Fund’s engagement with traditional authorities to strengthen partnerships, create awareness and mobilise support for its mission of ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent Ghanaians from accessing life-saving specialised medical care.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Ga Mantse on the Fund’s progress since its establishment, its support for patients across the country, and its long-term plans to improve specialised healthcare through investments in medical equipment, infrastructure, specialist training and research.
Welcoming the delegation, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II praised the vision behind the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, describing it as one of the most significant healthcare initiatives in recent times.
He stressed that the health of citizens remains a key foundation for national development and called for collective support from individuals, corporate organisations and development partners to strengthen the Fund’s impact.
The Ga Mantse pledged to use the influence of the Ga State to promote the work of the Trust Fund and encourage broader participation in its efforts to save lives.
As part of activities ahead of the Homowo Festival, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund donated 100 boxes of bottled water and 100 boxes of assorted soft drinks to support the traditional celebrations.
The Ga Mantse expressed appreciation for the gesture and commended the Fund for combining its healthcare mission with support for Ghana’s cultural traditions.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund said partnerships with traditional leaders remain crucial to expanding public awareness, reaching communities and ensuring that more Ghanaians benefit from specialised healthcare support.
