The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to digital inclusion and community development with a donation of digital equipment and financial support to the people of Kpeve in the Volta Region.
The donation was made on October 3, 2026, as part of GIFEC’s participation in the 2026 Fukotsoe Te Za Festival, held under the theme “The Re-Birth of Kpeve.”
The festival brought together the Paramount Chief of the Kpeve Traditional Area, Togbega Aku-Dompey XI, traditional leaders, elders and residents to celebrate the community’s culture, unity and development aspirations.
Representing the Administrator of GIFEC, Sofo Tanko Rashid-Computer, the Director of Corporate Affairs, Francisca M. Adjei, highlighted the importance of technology in advancing education, skills development, entrepreneurship and access to information.
As part of the intervention, GIFEC presented desktop computers and a cash donation to support educational, institutional and community development initiatives in the area.
Ms Adjei said the gesture formed part of GIFEC’s broader mandate to bridge Ghana’s digital divide and expand access to electronic communications services, particularly within underserved communities.
She said partnerships with traditional authorities and local communities remained essential to ensuring that digital opportunities reached people across the country.
GIFEC also commended Togbega Aku-Dompey XI, the chiefs, elders and residents of Kpeve for their commitment to the development of the traditional area.
The Fund said it remained committed to supporting communities such as Kpeve with the digital tools, skills and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in Ghana’s digital transformation.
The donation, it said, was intended to complement the community’s development efforts as Kpeve embraces what organisers described as its “Re-Birth.”
