The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a temporary outage of its passport application website, leaving some applicants unable to access the online platform.
The Ministry said the technical problem is affecting passport.mfa.gov.gh, the online portal used for passport applications.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, the Ministry apologised to applicants experiencing difficulties accessing the website and said efforts were underway to restore the service.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform its valued customers, particularly those who may be experiencing challenges accessing our website for passport applications, ‘passport.mfa.gov.gh’, is currently experiencing technical issues, and is therefore down, temporarily,” the statement said.
The Ministry said its technical team was working with the National Signals Bureau to resolve the problem.
“Our technical team is feverishly working with the National Signals Bureau to resolve the problem as quickly as possible,” it added.
The outage means prospective passport applicants who rely on the online platform may experience difficulties submitting or accessing their applications until the technical problem is resolved.
The Ministry expressed regret over the disruption and assured the public that it would provide further information once the website is restored.
“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. The Ministry will provide an update once the problem is resolved,” the statement said.
The Ministry did not indicate how long the disruption is expected to last.
