The official activities of the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) World Summit in Ghana have concluded with a visit to the palace of Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Akwamumanhene and Paramount Chief of the Akwamu State.
The visit provided summit participants with an opportunity to learn about the history and heritage of the Akwamu Kingdom, which emerged as one of West Africa’s powerful states between the 17th and early 18th centuries.
The Chief Executive of Maxwell Investment Group(MIG), Dr Maxwell Ampong who led the participants said the Akwamumanhene’s history reportedly extended about 250 miles along the coast at the height of its power.
The delegation also explored historical artefacts and reflected on the kingdom’s past achievements, while discussing perspectives on its future.
The visit further provided an opportunity for the organisers and participants to express their appreciation to Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III for his presence at and support for the IFPSM World Summit.
The engagement formed part of efforts to connect the international gathering with Ghana’s cultural heritage and traditional institutions.
The summit’s organising team also rounded off the activities with a traditional Ghanaian meal of fufu and light soup served with assorted meats, providing an informal setting for participants to interact after a week of engagements.
The conclusion of the official programme at the Akwamumanhene’s palace highlighted the importance of recognising Ghana’s historical institutions and cultural traditions alongside international professional engagements.
