Commissioner of Customs, Mr. Aaron Kanor, has joined a high-level stakeholder meeting aimed at addressing bottlenecks affecting container movement at MPS Terminal 3 in Tema.
The meeting, convened by the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Major General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, brought together key institutions involved in port operations, including the GPHA, Meridian Port Services (MPS), Ghana Police Service, Narcotics Control Commission, National Security, Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), and other stakeholders.
The discussions focused on measures to accelerate the movement of containers, reduce operational delays and ease congestion within the port area.
At the meeting, Mr. Kanor stressed the importance of stronger inter-agency collaboration, improved systems coordination and proactive communication among stakeholders to ensure a more efficient clearance process.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority to a technology-driven and integrity-led clearance system that facilitates legitimate trade while strengthening revenue mobilisation.
Mr. Kanor was accompanied by the Tema Collection Sector Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael E. Nelson, and members of his management team.
The stakeholder engagement forms part of broader efforts to improve efficiency at the port and ensure the smooth movement of goods through Ghana’s maritime gateway.
The participating institutions agreed to work collaboratively towards reducing bottlenecks and improving turnaround times for container clearance.
