The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, has held a high-level meeting with officials of the United States Department of Justice to deepen bilateral cooperation on law enforcement and address ongoing extradition-related matters between the two countries.
The discussions reportedly touched on several cases, including the extradition proceedings involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica.
Both sides reviewed the status of the matters and exchanged views on strengthening existing legal frameworks to support smoother extradition processes where necessary, in line with international legal obligations.
Beyond the specific cases, the meeting also focused on enhancing broader cooperation between Ghana and the United States in combating fraud, cybercrime, and other forms of transnational organised crime.
The two sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to improving intelligence sharing, boosting institutional coordination, and strengthening law enforcement capacity to address increasingly sophisticated cross-border criminal activities.
