Builsa South MP Dr. Clement Abas Apaak has released GH¢370,000 from his share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for road works across the constituency. The money will be used to repair, reshape and maintain roads in poor condition.
The intervention covers six roads and a bridge. The Doninga-Kanjarga Road will receive GH¢50,000. Another GH¢50,000 has been allocated to the Doninga-Siniensi Road.
The Kanjarga-Fumbisi Road will receive GH¢100,000. The Uwasi-Fumbisi Road has been allocated GH¢40,000. The Wiesi-Fumbisi Road will receive GH¢50,000.
Another GH¢30,000 will go towards work on the Nyambisa Road and Bridge. An earlier GH¢50,000 was also released for emergency work on the Uwasi-Fumbisi and Zamsa-Fumbisi roads.
The earlier intervention followed concerns from residents, farmers, traders and transport operators over the poor condition of the roads. Dr. Apaak said he saw the challenges residents face during a visit to the constituency.
“During my visit to the constituency, I saw firsthand the difficulties residents, farmers, and traders go through on these roads, and I listened carefully to their concerns. Good roads are essential for development. They connect our people to opportunities, markets, schools, and healthcare facilities. While major road projects remain the responsibility of central government agencies, I believe it is important to utilize available resources to address some of the immediate challenges facing our communities. These interventions demonstrate my commitment to improving accessibility and supporting the socio-economic development of Builsa South.”
The MP said the GH¢370,000 intervention will help address some of the immediate road problems in the constituency.
He is also engaging the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Ghana Highway Authority and the Department of Feeder Roads on other road projects. Dr. Apaak is pushing for faster work on the Builsa South section of the Chuchuliga-Sandema-Wiaga-Fumbisi-Wiesi road. He has also raised concerns about the Doninga-Sandema Road.
According to the MP’s office, the road is in poor condition and a contractor is expected to begin work soon.
Dr. Apaak is also calling on the Minister for Roads and Highways to rehabilitate feeder roads across Builsa South. The road works are expected to make movement easier for residents.
They are also expected to reduce transport difficulties, support farmers and traders, and improve access to schools and healthcare facilities.
