The Ministry of Education has approved 25 private senior high schools (SHSs) to be included in the 2025 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) under the Free SHS programme.
This marks the first time private SHSs are participating in the national placement process, giving candidates expanded options for enrollment.
This inclusion, announced by the Ministry of Education, aims to expand access to second-cycle education and ease congestion in public SHSs.
The approved schools, categorized under a newly introduced Category E, are all co-educational day schools located across Ghana’s 16 regions.
These institutions offer a variety of programmes, including General Arts, General Science, Business, Visual Arts, Technical, Home Economics, and Agriculture.
As a result of the update, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended the deadline for the ongoing school selection process to Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
A statement signed by the Ministry noted that the extension is to allow candidates ample time to review and revise their choices in light of the new options.
