The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has handed over vehicles to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) as part of efforts to strengthen local governance and improve service delivery.
The initiative is expected to enhance the operational capacity of the Assemblies, facilitate the effective coordination of development activities and improve their ability to respond to the needs of communities across the country.
The provision of vehicles is intended to support the day-to-day operations of the MMDAs, enabling them to carry out their administrative responsibilities and development programmes more efficiently.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to empower local authorities with the logistical resources needed to perform their functions and deliver essential services to residents.
Effective local governance depends, in part, on the capacity of Assemblies to coordinate development projects, monitor activities and engage communities on their needs and priorities.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to equipping MMDAs with the necessary resources to improve service delivery and promote development at the local level.
The government’s focus on strengthening the Assemblies is expected to support more effective implementation of development initiatives and improve service delivery in communities nationwide.
