The management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has declared 2027 the “Year of Execution”, following the conclusion of a three-day management retreat aimed at strengthening leadership, improving operations and setting the strategic direction of the refinery.
The retreat ended with a morning aerobics session, followed by a review of TOR’s 2027 budget and closing remarks from the Deputy Managing Director and Managing Director.
Management said the three-day engagement provided valuable lessons and helped strengthen collaboration and a shared sense of purpose among members of the leadership team.
Key areas addressed during the retreat included emotional intelligence in leadership, building stronger relationships with employees, and optimising operations and resources.
In his closing address, the Managing Director, Edmund Kombat said a number of convictions would guide the refinery’s operations as it prepares for 2027.
On organisational culture, he said: “Strategy sets the destination, but culture determines whether we arrive.”
He also emphasised the importance of unity within the institution, stressing the need for a “One TOR” approach to achieving the refinery’s objectives.
The Managing Director further described employees as the refinery’s greatest asset and said every role was important to the national mission.
“Our people are our greatest asset, and no role is insignificant when the mission is national,” he said.
He also called for a stronger focus on implementation, declaring that the period for extensive discussions had passed.
“The time for discussion has passed. 2027 must be a year of execution,” he said.
According to management, the retreat has provided a clearer shared direction, strengthened working relationships and renewed commitment among leadership to delivering measurable results.
The refinery is therefore entering 2027 with a focus on translating its strategic plans into concrete actions and improving operational performance.
“2027: The Year of Execution,” management declared.
