The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its national officers’ election today, October 3, 2026, with 7,163 delegates expected to vote at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The exercise is a key step in the party’s preparations for the 2028 general elections and will determine its national leadership across nine positions.
The positions include National Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser, National Treasurer and National Communications Director.
Before voting begins, delegates are expected to consider proposed amendments to the party’s constitution from 9:00 a.m. The election itself is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
The Electoral Commission will oversee the voting and delegate verification across 31 polling stations.
The NPP says delegates must be listed on the delegates’ register and present either a Voter ID card, Ghana Card or party card for identification.
The Youth Organiser race will have 2,745 eligible voters, while 1,275 delegates will participate in the Women’s Organiser election and 858 in the Nasara Organiser race.
The Ashanti Region leads the delegate distribution with 1,122 delegates, followed by Greater Accra with 773 and Eastern with 732.
The congress combines the consideration of constitutional amendments with the election of national officers.
