Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, has commemorated the 62nd birthday of late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known as Daddy Lumba, by donating cash to children receiving treatment at the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in the Greater Accra Region.
The gesture was made in memory of the celebrated musician on what would have been his 62nd birthday on September 29.
Odo Broni initially planned to support children who shared Daddy Lumba’s birthday.
However, during a visit to the Child Health Department, she encountered several critically ill children whose families required urgent financial assistance.
The initiative was subsequently expanded to provide immediate support to selected patients across various units of the department.
Cash donations, distributed in envelopes, were presented to children receiving treatment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the Child Health Daycare Oncology Unit.
Odo Broni said approximately GH¢63,000 was spent on the initiative, with the amount given to individual beneficiaries varying according to their needs.
She also visited the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to interact with children receiving critical care and extend support to them.
The donation was received on behalf of the Child Health Department by its Administrator, Benjamin Nkansah, and Chief Nursing Officer Evelyn Kumah.
The department expressed appreciation to Odo Broni for the gesture, describing it as a meaningful way of honouring Daddy Lumba’s memory by supporting children and families facing difficult moments in their healthcare journey.
