The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing has announced a protest dubbed “Yen Suro Ahunahuna” (We are not afraid of intimidation) on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to resist what it calls state-sponsored harassment and selective justice under the Mahama-led government.
National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, said the arrests and alleged persecution of key party figures, including Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) and Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), have forced the party to hit the streets.
He accused the government of reintroducing Ghana’s “culture of silence,” warning that selective application of the law threatens the foundations of democracy.
According to him, President John Dramani Mahama is exhibiting authoritarian tendencies, adding that the NPP will not allow Ghana to “be taken down a dangerous route.”
The protest, expected to draw thousands of supporters, comes amid growing concerns by civil society and religious groups about Ghana’s shrinking democratic space as the 2026 general elections approach.
