The recent incident at the youth forum in Bono East, where a final-year student nurse, Abdul Alim Jariya, confronted Vice President Bawumia about the unfulfilled promise of nursing training allowances, has left a sour taste in the mouths of many.

The fact that the student is now facing threats and sanctions from the NPP in Bono East is a clear attempt to silence her and avoid accountability.

Dr. Bawumia’s response to the student’s question was evasive and lacking in substance, highlighting the government’s failure to deliver on its promises.

The NPP’s track record on healthcare, education, and the economy, etc, has been marred by unfulfilled promises and corruption. The attempt to intimidate and silence Abdul Alim Jariya is a shameful attempt to cover up their failures.

Trainee Nurses

It is unacceptable that a government that has failed to fulfill its promises is now trying to silence those who dare to speak out. The student’s courage in asking the question is commendable, and the threats she is facing are a clear indication of a government that is desperate to avoid accountability.

The incident is a stark reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in governance. The people of Ghana deserve better than a government that breaks its promises and tries to silence those who speak out.

Dr. Bawumia and the NPP must take responsibility for their failures and work towards fulfilling their promises, rather than trying to silence those who dare to speak out.
